Places for People recognizes the positive link between early interventions and best outcomes for children, especially those who are at-risk. The Incredible Years Team facilitates Early Intervention/Prevention parenting groups in neighborhoods and communities throughout the greater St. Louis area. The Incredible Years is based on well-established behavior/social learning principles that describe how behaviors are learned and how they can be changed.

The program itself utilizes facilitated group discussion to provide a blend of skill-building, education, and support. The goal is to assist parents in becoming more confident and more effective, less stressed and less frustrated, while at the same time helping their children develop more positive and pro-social behaviors. In this way, many behavior problems are prevented before they fully develop.
This early intervention program is available to parents of newborns to age 12. Groups meet weekly, typically for 10 to 12 weeks. Parents discuss theories and techniques, including:
This program helps good parents become even better parents and to develop strong, healthy families.
