Jones Joins Places For People as V.P. of Development And Advancement

Places for People welcomed a new member to its executive management team earlier this month when Johanna R. Jones started as Vice President of Development and Advancement.

Johanna’s experience, expertise and leadership skills will enhance our organization’s efforts to provide healthier outcomes for individuals living with mental illness and substance use disorders, as well as informing the public of our recovery-focused work.

Jones will oversee the organization’s fund raising, marketing and brand awareness efforts.

“We are fortunate to have Johanna on our team,” Places for People Executive Director Joe Yancey said. “Johanna’s experience, expertise and leadership skills will enhance our organization’s efforts to provide healthier outcomes for individuals living with mental illness and substance use disorders, as well as informing the public of our recovery-focused work.”

Jones has more than 20 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, communications, and executive leadership at non-profit organizations in the St. Louis region. Most recently, Jones served as Director of Workforce Development and Strategic Partnerships for Southern Illinois University East St. Louis Center, where was responsible for workforce development initiatives and community partnerships along with strategic planning, innovation and sustainability planning for the East St. Louis campus. Jones successfully generated millions of dollars for new program initiatives at the SIUE East St. Louis Center.

Previously, Jones served as the Executive Director of the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation in East St. Louis. She also served as the Executive Vice President of Grace Hill Settlement House.

Jones earned her Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Jackson State University, and holds a Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law.
