With more than 30 years’ experience in the mental health care field, Joe understands how critical it is for those in need to have access to quality mental and behavioral health care. He joined Community Alternatives in 2007 as Executive Director but began his professional career with PfP’s Club. Joe was later named the first director of PfP’s West Pine Group Home, which opened in 1983 as the first psychiatric group home in the St. Louis area.
Gary Morse, Ph.D.
Vice President of Research and Development
Since 1981, Gary has served in the mental health care field providing behavioral health services, researching and developing best practices, administering programs, consulting, and training. In 1995, he founded the mental health care organization Community Alternatives after Missouri privatized outpatient mental health services. CA joined with Places for People in January 2011 to provide more clients with expanded services.
Dr. Meredith Throop
Dr. Meredith Throop started as Places for People’s first full-time medical director in October 2015. The St. Louis native performed her undergraduate work at Amherst College, then finished her pre-medical training at Columbia University in New York City. Dr. Throop graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She was introduced to Places for People when she performed her psychiatry residency at PfP. As medical director, Throop oversees all integrated medical and psychiatric services at Places for People.
Tiffany Lacy Clark
Vice President of Clinical Operations
Tiffany joined Places for People as the first full-time Vice President of Clinical Operations in January 2017. The Vice President of Clinical Operations provides oversight for all clinical activities in the organization. Tiffany served for six years with the Illinois Department of Human Services, working for the Division of Developmental Disabilities from 2010 until 2014. Between 2014 and 2017, Tiffany served as Executive Director of Region 5 Metro East of the Illinois Division of Mental Health.
Vice President of Operations
A former community support staff member at Places for People, Jaime Greenfield has served in the Human Resources department at Places for People since the mid-2000s. The four-person human resources department is now responsible for more than 300 employees. In addition to her role as V.P. of Operations, Jaime also participates on the Wellness Committee, Chair of the Safety Committee, the Incentives Committee, the Performance Excellence Committee of the Board of Directors, Chair of the PfP’s HR Committee, the Risk Management, and the Training and Professional Development committees.
Johanna R. Jones
Vice President of Development and Advancement
Johanna joins Places for People with more than 20 years experience with fundraising, marketing, communications, and leadership in non-profit organizations. Her expertise includes community development, fundraising, grant writing, program development, strategic partnerships, communication and marketing strategies.
Johanna has worked with a host of nonprofit organizations in the St. Louis Metro area including SIUE East Saint Louis Center, Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation, and Grace Hill Settlement House. She has served on the Board of Epworth, Centennial Plaza Apts., the Federal Reserve Bank Community Development Advisory Board, and is active in the Trinity Community Church, Jack and Jill of St. Clair County, and Jabberwock Rites of Passage Program.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and 7 children and among all of her many other accomplishments, has earned her Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law.
Vice President of Finance
As the Vice President of Finance, Laura began her career at Places for People as a community support worker in 1989 then, as PfP expanded, transitioned into a variety of fiscal/administrative roles until 2001. In 2004 she went to Community Alternatives as the CFO of the newly-developed non-profit organization. She remained with Community Alternatives until 2011 when CA merged with PfP. Laura has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Work from UMSL, and received her MBA from Fontbonne University in 1997.
Quality Improvement Director
Tony currently leads Places for People’s Compliance, Quality Improvement, and EMR Teams. Tony has been with Places for People since 2008 and has worked in the behavioral health field for the past 21 years. As the Director of Quality Improvement, Tony implements continuous improvement (CI) tools and methodologies to all levels of the agency to improve PFP’s organization, clinical, and business processes. When Tony’s not working, it’s likely you will find him running in Forest Park. Tony graduated from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1997, and is currently finishing up his Masters in Public Policy Administration at the University of Missouri St. Louis (May 2020).
Clinical Director of Special Projects Barbara Zawier, MSW, LCSW, oversees most clinical service delivery and quality assurance activities at Places for People. She helps develop, update, and monitor standard operating procedures, crisis intervention services, staff development, and training. Barb is a graduate of State University College of New York at Buffalo where she received her Bachelor’s of Social Work in 1982. She received her Master’s of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, George Warren Brown School of Social Work in 1984.
