Ellen, profiled in this video, was homeless, living with her husband in their truck before coming to Places for People. They had three children at the time with one more on the way. They were lost, with nowhere to go when she happened to come across an advertisement in the paper for help. The person she contacted introduced her to PfP and so began a relationship which continues to grow today.
Before working with PfP staff, Eleanor did not know she had a mental illness as her drug addiction kept her in the dark. Once addressing her addiction, she was able to work closely with her doctor and case workers to identify the root cause for her struggles – schizoaffective disorder.
She’s worked with PfP for the past 12 years and since then has been able to excel at her job, raise her children and lead a healthy, fulfilling life.
