During National Volunteer Week, we celebrate all of the wonderful volunteers who give time to support Places for People’s mission.
Please meet Rose, a graduate student at Washington University in St. Louis, who has volunteered as a tutor at Places for People for more than a year.
Rose helps people served by Places for People prepare for the HiSet test and achieve their educational goals.
“The most rewarding part of being a volunteer has been seeing how excited the clients get to learn new things, whether they are preparing for the math section of the HiSet exam, or learning how to read,” Rose said. “I watched one client in particular go from being almost completely illiterate to being able to read short books on his own in only about a year’s time. Being able to help someone achieve something like that and seeing what it meant to him was very exciting.”
Thank you to Rose and all of our volunteers!
